& SAS ground planes after two bellyflop |
Both
Scandinavian Air Services (SAS) and Flybe have had to ground
some of their aircraft and cancel flights after two planes made crash
landings in the last few days.
No injuries
On Sunday the landing gear collapsed on an SAS flight into Aalborg,
Denmark and then early this morning another similar incident happened as
the plane landed in Vilnius,
Lithuania. No passengers or crew have been hurt on either
flight.

On the two occasions the plane was a Bombardier Q400 turboprop.
Both Flybe and SAS have grounded some aircraft until
safety checks can be carried out on the undercarriage.
Cancelled flights
Flights will be affected on lots of domestic Flybe routes and
SAS has said that it has already cancelled 116 services.
Bombardier and Goodrich, the landing gear manufacturer, recommends that safety checks will be needed to be carried
out on all Q400's that have had in excess of 10'000 landing
cycles (one take off and landing), of which out of 160 Q400's
there are 60.
