Years living in a Travelodge |
An
elderly couple have been living in a Travelodge for the last 22
years as they say its cheaper and more convenient to an 'Old folks'
home.
Mr David Davidson (79) and Mrs Jean Davidson (70), moved into
the Travelodge at Newark, Nottingham in 1985 to visit a sick
relative and stayed their until they decided it was time for a
change and move out in 1997....to another Travelodge.
A new hotel was opening 15 minutes away in Grantham,
Lincolnshire and after moving into room one nearly 10 years ago,
they have remained residents ever since.

Despite taking advantage of early booking offers from £15 per
room per night, they have still reportedly spent in excess of
£100,000 at the two Travelodges. The room where they live
has now been re-named 'The Davidson Suite' in their honor and
costs them about £450 per month.
Mr Davidson told the Daily Mail about his marathon stay, "We
have everything we need here - and the staff are like family
now. We only have to walk across the car park for meals".
He added, "There is just no reason why we'd want to go
home."
Paul Anstey, Travelodge's company director of operations in the
North of England had some good news for the loyal couple, he
said, "We are going to mount a plaque in reception
celebrating their ten-year anniversary at the hotel."

Living in a Travelodge was made famous by Steve Coogan,s comedy
character, Alan Partridge, during the TV show was living in a
motorway service station Travelodge while working for 'Radio
Norwich'....Ah ha!
