October 07 | 60%
of travel insurance doesn't cover terrorism |
Insureandgo have attacked the
lack of cover regarding terrorist attacks on insurance policies.
The online insurance specialist has claimed that over 60% of
annual and single trip policies provide no cover at all
regarding acts of terriorism.
In the research that it did in February this year, it also found
that only 16% of annual and a very poor 12.5% of single trip
policies included an unrestricted cover in the event of an
attack.
Managing director Paul Wilson has said, "There were 14,000
terrorists incidents around the world in 2006, 25% higher than
in 2005.
"Travel insurance policies should offer cover against
terrorism as standard but, at the moment, a number of policies
don’t which is a real black mark against the industry",
he added.
This goes to show that when purchasing insurance either on the
high street or booking online, it is best to check what you are
actually going to be insured for and not just jump at the one
with the lowest price.
