hotels are the most expensive in Europe |
The Good Hotel Guide which is
an independent hotel review guide with over 30 years experience
has announced that hotels in the UK are the most expensive in
Europe.
Average £200 per night
The 2008 edition which was released today reveals that a one night stay in a hotel in the UK including breakfast
and dinner now costs an average of £200!
The guide claims that due to the high cost of holidaying here it has affected the tourism
from both domestic and foreign
clients. Some of the main factors of the prices are
blamed on rising property, council tax and the highest VAT in
Europe.
The editors of the Good Hotel Guide, Desmond Balmer and Adam
Raphael said, "Our readers often comment on how much more
expensive it is to stay in Britain than continental Europe."
Easier to book for a dog
It also states that hotels are more inclined to cater for four
legged friends than families. Mr Balmer claimed, "It
is sad that we find it easier to compile a list of dog friendly
hotels than to identify places which make a point of welcoming
children".
