Airways fly empty planes across the Atlantic |
Due to cabin staff shortages
British Airways have been flying empty planes across the
Atlantic to the United States and Canada.
Some say that they are flying the 'ghost ships' so they don't
lose precious time slots at Heathrow airport. A BA
spokesman defended the airline by saying it is due to a complex
rostering system which meant that there was no cabin crews
available for certain flights.
He said that it was better to fly one leg empty if the return
was full rather than cancel both flights.
Embarrassing
Whatever the true reason it is very embarrassing for the airline
after their recent advertising campaign which highlighted how
eco-friendly they were.
Over the last couple of weeks at least six planes have flown the
route across the pond with each one pummeling out thousands of
tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
