Phone Check In Trialed by BMI |
BMI are the first airline to
trial a new text messaging system to allow passengers to check
in for their flights by mobile phone.
The new paperless technique is to be trailed on routes from
London Heathrow Airport to Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and
Belfast.
Passengers will receive a text message displayed as a bar code
which is then scanned at the security and boarding gates, which
will allow people with no luggage to put in the hold to bypass
the check in desk entirely.
If the trial proves to be a success, it will be rolled out to
more of its routes across the UK.
