John Lennon Airport celebrates its 75th anniversary |
Liverpool Airport has
been celebrating its 75th anniversary this weekend with events
inside and out.
Visitors at the airport were treated with fly pasts by
Hurricane, spitfire and DC3 Dakota aircrafts. Inside the
terminal there was a historical exhibition set up with a series
of films, short lectures and pictures.
The airport was opened on the 1st July 1933 by the Right
Honourable the Marquis of Londonderry KG, Secretary of State for
air. It is now one of the fastest growing airports in
Europe with a 10% increase in passengers last year to 5.47
million.
This has been helped by Wizzair, Ryanair and Easyjet, the low
cost airlines that use Liverpool Airport to fly to a vast array
of destinations throughout Europe.
