June 08 | Aer
Lingus stop their LA service |
Irish airline Aer Lingus has
announced that it will suspend its oldest longhaul flight from
November.
Since 1999 they have had a five weekly Dublin to Los Angeles
flight but airline have said that the cutback has been due to
the "unprecedented fuel prices" and unstable economy.
Despite the popularity of the route, chief executive Dermot
Mannion explained that the route was simply too fuel intensive
to operate.
Last week Aer Lingus also claimed that they would "at
best" break even in 2008 due to the worsening economic and
commercial climate.
