|
The first Airbus A380 flights are to be
auctioned on Ebay for charity. A generous move by Singapore
airlines who are the first carrier to launch a service using the new
Airbus super plane A380.
Aviation History
SQ's Chief executive officer Chew Choon Seng has said, "Everyone at
Singapore Airlines is keenly anticipating the delivery of this new
plane... the first flight promises to be one of the most exciting
occasions in aviation history,". Regarding auctioning the
history making first flight, "While occasions like this are few and
far between, we hope this enthusiasm generates support for very
worthwhile causes,” said Chew.
Going, going...gone!
The auction will start on the 27th August and will include seats in all
three of the planes classes. The bids will start as follows -
Economy class - £1.90
Business class - £19.00
Suites class (a class beyond first) - £190.00
The bidding is for single, pairs and multiple seats for one way journeys
on the opening flights from Singapore to Sydney which is on the 25th
October 2007 and returning back the following day. To book a
return seat you will have to win two one way tickets on separate
auctions which could turn out pretty expensive.
Although two years behind schedule the A380 already has 14 airlines with
pre-orders committing themselves to 173 planes. Airbus will hand
over the plane to Singapore airlines at a ceremony in Toulouse, France
on the 15th October 2007.
