Express win East Coast rail franchise

National Express the UK rail and coach
company has announced today that they have won the franchise to run the
Intercity East Coast route from December 2007 until the end of March
2015.
It is a big scoop for the company who have recently lost several other
rail franchises.
National Express Chief Executive has said in a statement, "We are
absolutely delighted that we have won the UK’s premier intercity
railway. We have won with a bid which is ambitious, deliverable
and structured to generate shareholder value."
It is expected to generate over £600 million in revenue for the company
in the first year.
The route which links London and Scotland via Peterborough, Leeds,
Doncaster, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness will be
called 'National Express East Coast'.
