Teletext get tough on misleading prices

Teletext holidays are taking a hard line on agents and operators who advertise on the TV service and website with misleading prices.

Companies who are caught for a 3rd time by Teletext's compliance team will face a 24 hour ban from advertising on its services.

It has been frustrating for consumers that the 1st price they see advertised is not the price they pay after extra 'hidden' charges like ticket on departure fees and booking fees have been added on.

Teletext's managing director Matthew Cheevers has said, "Our policy is to penalise advertisers that do not adhere to the guidelines. Ultimately the price the customer sees on the service is the price they should pay for their holiday."

This is more good news for buyers after the recent action by the Office of Fair Trading banning airlines advertising their flights without tax.
