Melia ventures into Bulgaria

Sol Melia is to expand into Bulgaria,
opening six hotels over the next two years with a total of 2700 rooms.
The Spanish hotel chain is also
entering into a partnership with a firm in Brazil to build a hotel and
residential complex in Salvador.
Sol Melia saw net profits jump over 26%
in the first half of the financial year to €63.9 million.
It said demand from the UK market for
its popular destinations in Spain, particularly the Canaries, was high.
