Easyjet moves into Birmingham
|
Easyjet will make a tentative move into
Birmingham airport this winter with the launch of flights to Geneva and
Grenoble.
A daily service to Geneva will start on
December 14 and a twice-weekly Grenoble flight on December 22. EasyJet
will use a Luton-based aircraft for the services, but said it would
consider basing aircraft at Birmingham in the future.
Birmingham suffered the loss of its
British Airways operation earlier this year, but Flybe and bmibaby have
replaced a lot of BA’s former routes.
An easyJet spokeswoman said neither of
its two routes were flown by its rivals.
She claimed that the arrival of easyJet
at Birmingham meant that every member of the UK population was now
within 90 minutes of an easyJet flight.
Geneva fares will start at £38 return
and Grenoble at £48 return.
Easyjet will also commence a
Bournemouth-Grenoble route on December 13, flying three times a week,
with fares from £40 return.
