Air New Zealand have announced they will
be bringing lie-flat bed seats into the economy cabin. These type of flat bed
seats have previously only been available in business class or 1st class cabins
with all airlines.

The 'Skycouch' is a row of three seats together engineered to create a flat
space for passengers to relax or sleep on long haul flights.
The idea is for 2 adult passengers to pay for 2 economy seats and get the 3rd
seat for approx half price although the full details on costing wont be
available until the seats actually go on sale in April.
Chief executive Rob Fyfe said the airline’s new Boeing 777-300 ERs would redefine long haul travel when they were delivered in November.
"For those who choose, the days of sitting in economy and yearning to lie down and sleep are gone. The dream is now a reality, one that you can even share with a travelling
companion," he said.
Fyfe also added: "Being able to order a steak, medium rare in Business Premier, a pizza for two in premium economy or a late night snack in economy, whenever you want, will be a very cool experience.
"New oven technology that will cook food from scratch rather than simply reheating and a new digital in-seat ordering service will make this truly the first time real food has been served at
35,000ft." he said.
So its exciting times for Air New Zealand and its passengers and hopefully
travellers will now be able to have a decent sleep on long haul flights without
having to take out a 2nd mortgage.
