Normal service returns to Heathrow
|
NORMAL service has resumed at Heathrow
airport after yesterday’s security alert, but passengers are still
being warned to contact their airline before travelling to the airport.
A suspect bag found at midday yesterday
in Terminal 4 led to an evacuation of the building.
But police later said “nothing
significant” was found.
Passengers who were moved from
departure lounges to the street and car park had to be rescreened,
causing long delays.
Some 108 flights were cancelled in
total, with international and pan-European flights worst affected.
Terminal 4 is used by KLM, British
Airways, Qantas, Kenya Airways, Iberia Airlines and Brazilian airline
TAM.
Terminal 1 is operating as normal,
though a BAA spokesman said delays are possible.
