Airports report congestion but few delays
|
AIRPORT operators are reporting
congestion but relatively few flight delays following the weekend’s
terror attack at Glasgow airport.
Seven flights from Glasgow were
disrupted this morning, but a spokesman for airport operator BAA this
lunchtime said that “normal service has resumed”.
Vehicles, including taxis, are being
banned from approaching the terminal building, a measure being rolled
out at airports across the UK.
Congestion is being caused as police
carry out searches at Gatwick.
Traffic at Heathrow is "busy but
moving" and no flight delays are reported.
Stansted, Liverpool John Lennon,
Southampton, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports are all reporting normal
service.
Drop-off and pick-up in front of all
airports is severely restricted and passengers are warned that there may
be significant delays in reaching terminals by car.
Passengers are being strongly advised
to use public transport to get to the airport, while those using private
cars are being told to use short-term car parks to drop off.
