Tasmania - Australia
|
Tasmania is an island of great scenic beauty with a rugged coastline,
sprawling mountains, beautiful beaches and cultural treasures. Hobart,
the capital, is a delightful city with historic buildings, a beautiful
natural harbour and is overlooked by mighty Mount Wellington.
Touring by car or coach are the best ways to experience Tasmania -
travel south east of Hobart to Port Arthur, Australia's best known
historic site, where convicts were housed in the mid 1800's.
Visit the Freycinet Peninsula, an area with lush green mountains and
stunning turquoise waters of Great Oyster Bay where you can explore the
spectacular beaches and enjoy bushwalks in tranquil surroundings.
In the north you'll find Launceston, the second largest city in
Tasmania, acclaimed for superb cuisine and an ideal gateway to explore
the surrounding areas such as breathtaking Cradle Mountain, a nature
lover's paradise.
The compact island of Tasmania is about the same size as Wales but with only 300,000 inhabitants. An island of great natural beauty with towering mountains, a rugged coastline dotted with some superb beaches.
Take a step back in time and discover the natural wonders of Tasmania - you'll find a very different Australia.
Tasmania is also the home of the famous Tasmanian Devil!
