Majorca Travel Information

Majorca is one of the most popular destinations for people looking for a fun or relaxing break in a sun soaked and thriving environment. It is the largest of the three Balearic Islands sat right in between Ibiza and Menorca and is visited by thousands of tourists every year.

Year after year, thousands of people flock to this beautiful island and grace themselves on the miles upon miles of golden coastlines in which the beaches in Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa, Sa Coma and Cala Bona really come into their own.

The beach in Alcudia in particular is the largest in the whole of Majorca with eight whole kilometers of golden sand complemented by shallow crystal clear waters which is ideal for families. Puerta Pollensa too is a hugely popular family resort owing to a spectacular beach with calm waters which stretch around a picturesque bay.

On the east of the Island, Sa Coma boasts a more thriving beach which is popular with watersport fanatics – many people also find the recurrent breeze a nice escape from the sizzling midday heat.

Other popular hotspots for beach lovers include Cala Bona & Cala d’Or, both resorts enriched with cosy coves which offer more privacy or if it’s a livelier atmosphere you’re looking for, then the beaches of Magaluf and Palma Nova will not let you down with a vast array of activities ranging from Jet Skis to Paragliding.

No matter what kind of beach you’re looking for, Majorca certainly caters for everyone.

The versatile isle of the Balearics

Majorca certainly lives up to its tag as the ‘versatile isle of the Balearics’, mainly in part to its vast array of offerings. Magaluf and Palma Nova are neighboring resorts hugely popular with younger people looking for a more ‘lively’ holiday. Magaluf in particular is teeming with bars, discos and nightclubs which ensures a wild time if that’s your desire. Palma Nova is a short distance away from Magaluf and more popular with families and couples but who also have the option of a more vibrant atmosphere if they so desire.

Palma de Majorca

The star of the show however is the capital City, Palma. A typical cultural City with its stylish old town, wonderful restaurants and vibrant night-life – Palma certainly ticks all the boxes if it’s a bit of everything you want.

This old town, a Roman city centuries ago, boasts a world famous Gothic cathedral whose first foundations were laid way back in the 13th century and took over 400 years to complete, such is its magnificent splendor. Palma is also home to a superb atmospheric area strewn with museums and ancient palaces, ideal for the more artistic of people. However, if that’s not your cup of tea, then the modern part of Palma has a vast array of designer clothing outlets, stylish eateries, bars & cafés to keep you very much occupied. Then at some stage, be sure to take a walk down to the City’s Marina, where the luxurious yachts float proudly upon the sparkling water beneath the ominous gaze of the ancient cathedral.

Majorca has something for everyone

Majorca overall is an island with much to enjoy for everyone. The southern side of the island is generally livelier with bars and discos galore whilst the north side tends to be a little quieter with restaurants and bars aplenty. Families in particular are spoilt for choice with an endless supply of water parks, beach activities & markets and then for the more cultured person, the endless list of museums and ancient buildings will cater for their every need which is why Majorca is widely regarded as the most popular holiday destination for everyone.
