So after paying more than double
for your seat to travel in business class you have to wonder
sometimes, is it worth it?
At the Airport
The first obvious bonus is not having to wait in the
staggeringly long queue to check in, most airlines that offer
business class have a separate check-in area so you can be
through in a matter of seconds.
Major airlines also offer their premier clients lounges for
abit of peace and quite and away from the hustle and bustle of
the main pre-boarding areas. These usually include large
seating areas with complimentary daily papers and drinks which
will make the process of waiting for your plane much more
relaxing.
On the Plane
Separate boarding is again offered by most, this avoids the
cattle class queues so you reach your seat safely without
having to wait behind the family that seem to be trying to fit
the entire contents of their house into the overhead
compartment.
On the plane you will have a large seat, plenty of seat pitch
(the distance between rows, seat anchor to anchor), and
comfortable seat recline. Few airlines offer 'Flat beds'
on routes but these at the moment are rare.
Large seats is not the only bonus of business class. More
often than not, you will get a personal TV (or PTV), sometimes
with movies on demand, swiveling screens that if your lucky
and so inclined you could watch upside down. Most of the
larger airlines now offer internet access to check your
important emails as you fly or just pass the time and make
yourself look busy.
Worth it?
If you are thinking of traveling long haul in the near future
and are thinking of going business class, its worth noting
that most scheduled airlines now on long haul routes offer
personal back of the seat TV's and the leg room is much better
than the crushed up charter holiday flights that you may be
used to.
